Filling a tank looks like the simplest task in vaping until a mouthful of liquid explains otherwise. The fill line moulded into the glass, or printed on the chimney, marks the highest point liquid can safely reach while the tank is upright. Going past it pushes liquid into places meant only for air. Vapeziova lists tank capacity in the product details, and that number assumes you leave headroom rather than filling to the brim.

Find the real fill line

Not every tank has a visible mark, and some marks sit lower than the obvious maximum. Tilt the tank toward a window: you are looking for a seam, a small arrow or a notch in the metal. If nothing is visible, fill to roughly four-fifths of the glass and stop.

Capacity figures are measured to that line, not to the top of the chimney. A tank described as holding two millilitres will not accept two millilitres plus the space above the mark, and trying to force it is how liquid ends up in the airflow.

Why the air gap matters

Every tank needs a pocket of air above the liquid. That pocket equalises pressure when you draw, and it gives the coil room to wick without being drowned. Remove it and the tank becomes a straw full of liquid: the first pull drags raw e-liquid through the coil and into your mouth.

The gap also absorbs temperature changes. A full tank left in a warm car expands, and with nowhere to go the liquid pushes past the seals. Half a centimetre of air at the top is enough to prevent that.

Keep the chimney clear

The chimney is the central tube that carries vapour to the drip tip. Liquid must not enter it while you fill. On top-fill tanks, this means angling the bottle so the stream runs down the glass wall rather than straight down the middle.

  • Tilt the tank, then fill along the inside wall.
  • Squeeze the bottle slowly and pause to let the level settle.
  • Stop when the level reaches the fill mark.
  • Wipe the rim before closing the top cap.

If liquid does reach the chimney, turn the tank upside down over a cloth and let it drain before you vape. A few drops shaken out now save a flooded coil later. Never blow into the drip tip to clear it; that pushes liquid deeper into the base.

After the fill

Close the top cap firmly, then wait a few minutes before drawing. This pause lets the wick absorb liquid, which matters most with a fresh coil. Start at a lower power setting for the first several puffs and raise it gradually once the flavour settles.

Keep bottles away from children and pets, and close them after use. If liquid contacts your skin, wash the area with soap and water. If it is swallowed, contact a doctor or poison control rather than waiting for symptoms.

A tank that still gurgles after a careful fill may be overfilled by only a few drops, so pour a little back into the bottle and try again. Matching a tank to a bottle that is easy to pour also helps; the e-liquid range notes bottle types where relevant. Vapeziova keeps a wide selection of tanks with clear fill markings so the right level is easy to judge.
